Non-kayak report from Maui

Epic and beautiful...and hot in all aspects.
Temp was 89 with high humidity.
Surf at Lahaina Breakwall?
Epic
No fishing, even though I saw 3 blues, onos, and small ahi caught.

Decided not to go out, not based on price (200+4-6 hours) but no vacuum sealing!

Blues are sold to smokers who then sell locally.

Did a drive down coast, guys with big arse reels surf fishing for 50-60 # for Ulua even some spotted in harbor.

Days spent surfing snorkeling and diving waterfalls at Hana Highway.

One week is too short.

Must go back.

Too many women, the lad had me 5-2, damn.

Food?

Beyond belief, poke at Tamuras is epic, the best.

I tried I suck at surfing.

But, no kayak fishing guides, no vac sealing, whaaaaat?

Hmmm...

I spent a week on Kauai, Epic is the right word for sure. I agree a week is too short but the memories last. No fishing for me either, but someday...

Wow, I miss that place. The shore fishing for Uluas
is a religion! They use live octopus as bait to attract
the uluas (monster jack trevally); then fight the beasts
from shore. Many Hawaiian fisherman have died in the
rocks and surf trying to land those puppys.

I lived and worked at Kihei. And you're right, those charter
boats would never let you take your catch home. They
sell it to the local hotels/restaurants. Say hi to my friends
at the local Greek restaurant, the Pita Paradise.
