What does taking on "the berm" mean? do you mean the hump next to the sidewalk?

Or is it the name of a fishing area?

I don't think you are referring to the sand berms set up to contain PCB's in the bay, are you?

Yes...

Yes....hump berm mound what ever you want to call it.
I used to use boat launching ramp...dont look like it will be done in the near future.

Ahso. Thanks.

Also wondering if it might be underwater berm structure from dredging operations.

The mind wanders ;)

just keep bouncing

even though they're mostly on the bottom, they move around a lot. don't get too discouraged - just keep bouncing. id make mental note of that first spot and try to go back there on a similar tide.

imo short bite and missed hookup are terms that are synonymous w/ halibut fishing, especially if you're bit by little ones. if using live bait, i like to let my live bait slide through whatever is holding the weight, so i can let the butt attack and swallow bait. i just have to be quick on the rig as soon as i feel even a light set of taps, drop it into free spool. if i miss it, try again. i've gone back 2 min later and caught fish i just missed. i prefer to fish one rod really carefully than to have 2 or more rods out. and personally, i don't like treble stingers on live bait, but whatever works for you.

of course they're known to pop off at the boat too. shake it off (pun intended) and get back to it.

thanks for post. got me interested again in targeting one of the tastiest fish.

and really cool rig! that'll keep you in shape.

Yep....my ambition is to fill you with hope.

Reminds me of the pain-in-the-ass berm at the Mission Bay Classic :the_finger:
