Should I buy a 2017 outback?

Hi everyone new to the site and still new to kayak fishing. Thinking of buying a new 2017 hobie outback. What are some cons to owning one? Is it hard to load by yourself on a mid size sedan?

Yes.

Make sure "BLEM" is not stamped on it.

the outback is one of the best yaks for fishing, its a fishing machine...not sure why you would need to check for the word blem?

referring to another thread about someone who bought a blem but didn't know it when he bought it and his trials and tribulations on getting the dealer to make good on the sale.

Except, that as far as I know Hobie does not sell "Blem" kayaks.

What baja traveler said. Hobie does not sell blems. Outbacks are a Nice piece of plastic to fish from.

Thanks for the advice. I will hopefully buy one by the end of the month. Any accessories you guys recommend and fish finder for it?

Get the larger sailing rudder. Plan for some geartrac in the future as you plan your build.

If/when you buy your Hobie make sure you ask for the Team Sewer package upgrade.

The contents of the upgrade depends on where you buy the kayak....

If you buy it in Los Angeles, it comes with quite a few WCW cups, dead fish tails you can hang up on your garage, and some Busy Bee sandwiches.

If you buy it in San Diego, it comes with a bunch of raffle tickets, sting rays, and a rap song. Oh yeah, you get a free canoe too.

As an accessory you should get a second mirage drive for when yours breaks. Or you could get a man's kayak with a full carbon blade and a ripped pair of lats to go with it.;):kayak-surfer:

The outback and the revo are both stable, dependable yaks. I like them both and own one of each. The outback is heavier and since the side handle grips are not centered the weight is unbalanced and it is difficult to pick up, lift over your head, and throw on top of my Highlander SUV. The revo loads overhead with ease.
If you travel shorter distances, fish harbors, use hoop nets, like extra deck space, carry a lotta crap- get the outback. If you want to travel further, faster, and free of extra weigh- get a revo. They are both very stable. Personally I prefer the revo but dont think you could go wrong w either. I would strongly recommend getting a large rudder and only buying a current hobie model with new seat system
