BIG river tarpon / 7" swim bait!

Fished hard today, a side river off the NakDong near Busan. 20knot winds most of the day. Tucked into some small channels trying to find some bass, but nothing was active. Got almost all the way back to the entry and found some mullet in shallow water, and saw a splash was pretty sure wasn't a mullet. So started casting the swimbait in the 2' shallows, kept seeing something swirl around in one spot. After four or five casts, the fish nailed the swimbait, coming all the way out of the water.

Didn't have the GoPro ready due to the slowness of the day, but video is still pretty cool I think.

Yeah, I was pretty stoked after a real slow day. Big fish, big lure, shallow water, and from the kayak all make for an exciting mix.

The big one was 86cm, 4.6 kg (10.14 lbs)

Nice catch. Swim baits must be kick ass there if they come in a molded case.

Ah, those were different, smaller lures. Those are something they call a BuzzShad or something like that. Like a cross between swimbait and a frog, fished on top of the weeds. They are pretty popular.

The swimbait was a SR7.

Nice report and pictures. Curious, did Capt. G built that rod for you? Nice one!

Here's those Buzzin shads: http://www.basstackledepot.com/damiki-buzzing-shad.aspx

Seem to work pretty well anywhere there is a lot of vegetation but you want a slightly bigger bait.
