North County Launch Zone

Yep...sometimes you have to put the fishing gear back in the car and just go play....of course after fishing.

Little tip, dont paddle parallel to shore. I realize you may have been looking for an opening in the sets. But paddling hard perpendicular will be your best bet.

yakdoubt typically I would totally agree with you, this spot has a good deep channel running parallel though about 25 feet off the shore so on days when it is too big to launch through the beach break I go here, you get protection from the long reef running way past the breakers (helps dissipate the waves before they get to you) and a safety net with the deep channel if a wave makes it all the way through the reef, it works well for me I have been surfing here over 10 years so that helps. I do launch at beach breaks as well mainly south ponto.

The V's are surf zones shown is the path I take, If I were to follow the path with the X at the end it would put me at risk of getting caught by a big set...I typically won't paddle through that way its a surf spot called hot spots usually surfers there and freak sets.

hmmm 5-6ft waves??

Not sure I saw 5-6 footers, maybe 3-4's. Unless your not referring to the face of the wave?
