Take a newbie fishing....what happens?

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...d88580955b.jpgHe catches that butt that has been eluding you for a long time. First time kayak fishing, spent most of his time up-chumming and still caught the prize. 36", 18 pounds. Good eats. Good day on the big water. He will have a great story for his family in Pennsylvania.

For seasickness I'm sure he will out grow it...I no I did

Probably so.

If not, he will take some kind of dramamine or whatever. I would say that he is definitely hooked better than that butt.

Nice fish. Looks more than 18 to me.

We thought so too

We had a bet, I guessed 20, Ryan guessed 25. I bought a digital scale at Dana Landing to settle it. The length/weight chart says 20, so 18 is reasonable on the light side. Stomach was pretty empty. Mac catch yesterday was all very small and scant. He caught it on squid strip. Beginners luck. I finally got to use my homemade gaff though. I think I was as stoked as he was.

Congrats, nice Butt. There are always stories of a newbie catching the first Yellow, Hali or WSB. I have tried to learn all I can and almost exclusively target Yellows, but have not yet caught a large Hali or WSB. I guess that just proves the old saying "Better lucky than good".

Which stomach was empty the lads...

Or the fish. If I remember right the patch behind the ear worked the best ,all the other seasick pills made you sleep all day....

There are a couple threads on seasick remedies. A quick search will give you a variety of ideas

I already told him about this forum, so I'll tell him to do the search. He's young, so he probably has the search thing figured out. Even when he was still sick, he said he wanted to go again.
