17-24 April GONZAGA Spring

RED SLED TEAM Spring break trip to Paradise. 17 to 24 April Easter Week. Trip is open to all in the BWE community. Those wishing to attend please post here.

The KITCHEN will be open, so we have the option to cook in camp or go to the restaurant for meals. Those attending will be responsible for one nights meal for the rest of our camp. You bring the food, cook it and clean up after, or you bring the meat to the restaurant, they cook, serve, and do the clean up, it cost you $5.00 per person for this service. The restaurant provides the rice, beans, tortillas. Drinks and tip is extra. Gives you more fishing time, you just tell them when you want dinner to be ready.

OK Frank, if you bring your paint sprayer I'll bring the paint to do the exterior of the garage and the kitchen. Should only take part of one day, I hope.

So guys this is an open trip, all BWE members, friends and family are welcome,
if YOU are not a member, just sign into BWE and join our Community. Only takes a minute or two.

After this trip BAJA gets HOT weatherwise, but then so does the fishing. Tight Lines.

Mahigeer 03-30-2017 12:59 PM

Depending on how the April 2-8 trip goes, I may have keep the 4Runner loaded, and only take down the kayak from the roof!!

let's see how it goes.

In!

Hey Mako, Please add me to the list!! Sentri app. pending for the 11th in San Ysidro so I hope to convoy on down with the rest off you! As well, count me in for some physical labor if need be, least I can do for you considering your invitation to paradise!

makobob 04-01-2017 04:02 PM

WELCOME Aboard, Frank Stevie and Hashem, Summer is coming and when it gets here it WILL be TOO HOT for most of you, unless you BYO air conditioner. Had someone jump in his truck to run AC and cool off already THIS spring. Tight Lines.

buddha 04-08-2017 12:15 PM

I might be able to do this trip if I could carpool or if I rode with a person with a sentri and they could drop me off near the walk in and I could meet them on the other side. I do not have a sentri pass.

Just back from camp. Bass, corvina, bigger triggers, one toutava released, sierras too, along with a few Yellow tail.
I would like to leave on the 16th early. Who is actually going? And are we caravaning together? Please post now. Tomorrow my Solo Skiff heads to OEX Mission Bay for full rigging.

Guys, please confirm, so I know what is going on and we can have fun. The Gregor boat works great down there, but does use fuel so if you want to use it plan on bringing 3-4 gallons a day of PREMIUM gas. You will also need to bring a marine VHF radio. This boat is for TWO PERSONS only.
CONFIRM, CONFIRM. Tight Lines.

Will confirm tomorrow for sure as I have to square up a few things but all is looking good (having VHF issues, may have to send it back to Standard Horizon tomorrow not sure on the turnaround rate, will call customer service tomorrow am)

In re. to caravaning, Buddah i would brutha but I'm taking my civic coupe which will be filled to the tee including passenger seat with all my junk :/ Bob, yes i would like to meet up with you guys as this will be my first time and would appreciate the comfort of traveling with fellow Americans :D:p

And mako, in re. to the AC/Heat, what do people usually use as i assume there is no power ports other than the generator which is reserved for special circumstances? just curious but nothing a beach umbrella, lounge chair and a dip in the drink can't fix right? Looking into a smaller electric generator at this time... Was looking at a little 200 dollar honda gas powered generator but not sure if that would be too much noise in the camp so I am opting for the latter and going electric unless you give the green light for gas powered :D

Oh, and should be able to leave Sunday, would that change the return date to the 23rd or?

:cheers1:

Hope you can eave early Sunday.
There is one spare radio in camp.
85 degrees last week. No A/C, but shade and sea water.
Have working solar to charge electronics, run radio, food processor or pellet grill. Also small generator.

Had another great week at MakoBob's slice of paradise. If you are bringing meat down for the restaurant I suggest Chicken for "Chicken Mole" and pork for "Chile Verde". All of the meals at the La Poma Restraunt were great. Breakfast there made the mornings easy. The fish and shrimp tacos make a great lunch.

Sounds awesome, can't wait to see all the write ups!

In. re to the day you're responsible for dinner, and you recommending mole or the chile verde, do we have to bring all the ingredients as well or just a few lbs of meat, and the $5 per head and they will take care of the rest?

As well, whats the gas situation like? I plan on bringing a few gallons of premium for the gregor but will I want to bring a spare 5 gallons for my car or will running out of gas not be a problem this time of year? Do you guys usually stop for anything over the border or NO, is everything purchased here in the states and we simply go for the straight shot down with no stops?

Just trying to get all my ducks in a row, i know you can never be to prepared for anything but.. Lol, headed down to Ysidro tomorrow for the SENTRI app. then will stop off @ INM to get the FMM stamped I'm gonna buy online later. all recommendations are greatly appreciated ha, as it's my first time :cheers1:

SDROB 04-10-2017 03:36 PM

@Stevie 951

Plenty of gas in San Felipe, make sure to top off there and your good. Than fill up again there on the way back.
Bring the meat for $5 bucks a head they pretty much do everything else. Usually Rice n Beans, tortillas and salsa and sometimes salad.

I just got back yesterday. Good times definitely had by all!
