PA12 Launching in Redondo

Just wondering how people do it, I went down to Redondo just to check out the launching dock and it seems trying to launch my PA12 would be sketchy by myself, just looking for some insight or if am just overthinking it.

If I can launch my PA 14 off that dock then it should not be that bad. Just make sure you have a line attached to the side rail so you can control it once launched and tie it up. Just make sure everything is secure.

Where I face the biggest challenge is getting the wheels back in the scuppers at the end of the day. I have been lucky enough to find someone to help, but as a backup plan I have a folding camp stool that I keep in the hatch so I can prop the beast up on that and crawl under to put in the wheels.

Dock Launch

A dock launch is pretty darn easy...
I roll the yak down the ramp, then remove a few loose items so they don't tumble of the yak and into the water, then I roll my PA 14 over on it's side to remove the wheels... then push it forward on the dock until the bow enters the water then drop the back end in and tie it to the cleat on the dock and prep it for the days fishing...when I return I raise the skeg and rudder...remove some of the heavier parts like the Mirage Drive, the kill bag and the bait tank...then grab the front handle and lift the bow onto the dock while pulling it forward until I can pull the whole yak up on the dock...then I roll it over on it's side again and insert the wheels for the trip up the ramp to the trailer.
Easy Peezy....:cheers1:
...and yes you're overthinking it...:iagree:
If a 66 year old guy at 160 lbs can do it...it must be easy...LOL...!

I've actually been hesitant to fish Redondo just because I'm sketchy on how to do launch there correctly.

I wonder how many people have gone swimming before launching their yaks from there. LOL

I'm a smaller guy and launching and landing my PA is a breezez. Dragging it back up fully loaded is the harder part. Unloading some of your gear before pulling it back up helps a lot.
