Just bought a hobie outback

Hey guys I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a Hobie outback mirage and Im kind of lost when it comes to storing it. Currently I have it in my backyard wrapped around with a tarp and its on the ground. Its not on cement just the dirt ground. Ive read that its not appropriate to have it that way but does anyone else just leave it on the floor. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Tight lines to all

Check the classified section, someone was giving was giving away some kayak stands. Do your best to keep it out of the sun and you should be ok.

You will love the ride! Congrats. I believe store on the side or upside down but not resting on the hull to avoid warping.

I have mine on a wall using j hooks I fashioned using electrical metal piping.

The side rails on the Outback are reinforced to allow storing it upside down without deflection in hot weather. That's not so with the bottom. Either turn it over and support it on the stiff sections designed for that (the parts that would contact a roof rack if you hauled it that way) or make a cradle that spreads the weight of the kayak out over a large portion of the bottom. Polyethylene is pretty stiff at 45 degrees but in full sun or very hot weather it softens and given enough time can permanently sag or deform. The yak still works and is strong but drag increases and it looks like crap! :-(
