I was so tired from carrying our kayaks and replacing them at the top of our SUV every time we plan a kayaking trip, so we decided to create something to make our life easier on the weekend, and this is what I came up with and so far it works great:

love the idea I saw an old jet ski trailer thats a double trailer on craigslist. I thought would work perfect for the kayaks then you never have to worry about ramp rash on your kayaks?!
any good or bad imput on this?

thats alot of kayaks.

im still building mine. only going to hold 3. but it has coolers, livewell/bait tank, a gas grill and im trying to figure out how to mount rod holders... either vertical in the center or horizontal above or below the yaks.

mine was for a 16ft boat. works well. the smaller trailers would work for just the kayaks, but im trying to build it up for long trips.

Looks good to me. How did you connect the front upright to the trailer tongue? Did you use a bracket or did you run a bolt throught the tougue itself? I am starting a project that is very similar. I already have the unistrut. Great pictures and great idea.

Double Jetski trailer is a great idea. You can easy build a metal frame with bolts and screws and add bars to acommadate kayaks according to your needs plus with extra space for a tool box or to keep your life jackets and if you have more space add a large coleman ice cooler for your catch, it should work great let me know if you needs extra ideas or designs I can search and posts extra photos. if you are planing on hualling multi kayaks like mine you need to weld the frame safer on the road and screws get lose after a while, good luck keep me posted with your project.

I did use brackets, bolts and screws in the begging then with time, weight and use hardwares start getting lose, so I welded all the screws all over for safety, since 2009 using it in every weekend and I do that for living never had a problem or accident (knock on wood) or lose a kayak on a highway :)

If you check the 3rd & the 4th photos, I did mount 6 fishing rod holder at the back straight up and it works great only when I carry short kayaks up to 10 ft once I start buying 15 ft to. 17 ft kayaks the poles will be in the way, so I took the out, you try on the side of the bar by replacing another bar and add the pvc on the side it should work great.

I like the idea of using unistruts! I too got tired of putting the kayaks on top, especially after a long paddle. This is my second version of my trailer. I started with a small boat trailer and added a truck ladder rack so I could have 2 levels and used my existing yakima stuff. The cargo box has my paddles and poles. It has been great and I have used it on a trips from Salt Lake to Santa Barbara with no problems. I could not have done it without gathering ideas from this site, so thanks!

I've got a question for y'all that use a trailer for your kayaks. I have Thule racks on my truck so I have little experience with such light weight trailers. I've towed bass boats and such, but never anything little. Do you have much issues with them bouncing around due to their light weight?
I recently bought a 9' Boston Whaler and it is a PITA to load and unload from my truck bed. I want to buy an old jet ski trailer for it, but am concerned since the boat only weights a couple hundred pounds with the outboard I am going to have issues.
