Bait tank/pump question.
 

Anybody tried to run 6v 12ah for Liquid Fishing Thresher Tank which has 12V pump.

I am using 12 V 7ah, It lasts only 5hrs.

Yes, it works. The battery will last longer.

thats what i am running right now. the 6v will run it all day. i have fished it for over 10 hrs one day and it was still strong.

Would you have to buy a 6v charger as well? I'm assuming a 12v charger isn't appropriate for charging 6v batteries.

THat's right. You've got to have 6V charger. I've been using the one of those little ones with 6V / 12V switch. Worked fine.

I had 6V battery on a bait tank for a long time. It runs forever, it is less noisy... You better keep an eye on the water intake though as the water-flow with 6V seems to stop much easier when you get eelgrass and other crap on your filter...

I don't use it any more as I have a kayank with a timer switch and a 12V battery that powers everything.

If you already have 12volt batts and charger you may want to look in to a timer switch - contact AYS.

Why not step up to a
 

12 volt 12 amp and run your Sonar off of it also?

In some models of FF, having the timer switch/bait tank on the same power source seems
to cause interference on the FF. Every time the switch goes on, it shows up
on the FF. Looks like fishies ever 70 seconds...:)

I get that same interference... I wonder if there is any way to filter that out?

I imagine so, but not sure. DGax might know. I think he's an electrical engineer.

Some timers are better than others. The timer on my first bait tank was a do-it-yourself kit that I got at Willy's. I had to solder all of the components on the board on that one. It wasn't very well suited for the task and it soon crapped out. Before it died, I noticed some interference on my FF. I got a couple of the timers from Anglers Yak Shack and they have been working well. The whole thing is potted, so you don't have to worry about corrosion. I've used an AYS timer with a couple of different fishfinders and I have never seen any sort of interference with the sonar's operation or display. The AYS timers are a little more expensive than others, but it's worth the money.

I'm using a AYS timer.

I prefer a separate battery for my bait tank.. the 6v on the liquid fishing tank is much better for that pump. the 12v pumps out way to much water... and is heavy!

Thanks, I bought and used it today .It was perfect.I noticed that the sardines are healthier than 12v battery .I fished at Dana Point.
