Thinking of new FF

Im currently running an older Garmin with a 4 in screen (forgot model) But with a new year comes updated techno, so you guys see a benefit to buying the latest or can i save $$ on 2018 models and still get a good job done. Im looking at models from Hummingbird or Lawrance in a 5" cause I have an 2016 outback but will 7" be better as I was thinking it would get in the way??? Any recommendations would be great and trying to stay under $600 if possible

I loved my Raymarine 7". Positioned correctly it was perfectly out of the way but well within adjustment range.

I highly recommend having them mounted on RAM mounts for full range of motion.

I have a 5” Lowrance elite TI mounted on the left side of my outback on a ram ball. Big enough for me being close to my seat and I never feel it’s in the way. Look for sales at west marine, best warranty there.

I'm going the other way. I've been running a 2017 model Hook7 with Navionics chip for west coast and Hawaii. The graph is good but to keep it out of the way, I had to keep it out of reach. I picked up a 4" Garmin 44CV to get it closer to me.
