First Session of 2019

This is a kayak fishing report from Lake Perris on 3-17-2019

A short morning session yielded only one Largemouth Bass. I marked several on the meter and they were all in the 30 to 35 foot depth range. Only this one would bite.

I did not see any shore bass caught. Between my experience and speaking with some other anglers it appears the bass are still pre-spawn and have not moved anywhere you could call shallow and thus remain hard to find. The bluebird sky and low wind conditions did not help either. Most areas less than about 25-feet deep are still heavily vegetated. Regarding temperature, water was low 50's upon launch and hit 60 by late morning using my in-hull transducer. I fished the east end and I can't imagine the west end (deeper) is any warmer. Anyways, something should start up soon!

This one hit a brush hog 35-feet deep.
