HOLY OTOLITH BATMAN

I took the head of the WSB I caught on May day down to Hubbs Seaworld Research Institution this afternoon.

http://www.hswri.org/

I finally had the pleasure of meeting Tim Conerty, great guy!

After scanning my WSB (not a tagged fish) :( Tim gave me the deluxe tour of the facility.

Very impressive! Thanks Tim!!

The folks at HSWRI, along with their partners, are working hard to ensure sustainable fisheries for us and the generations to come.

I would encourage all who catch WSB's to turn in the heads!

Ken, sounds great. I have three heads in my freezer and just haven't made it down there yet. Did you call ahead, or can you pretty much just show up? Also, did they dig the stones out for you or did you take them out before you took the head down there? Thanks.

I have a fairly smooth method in getting the stones out which minimizes the potential to chip the stones. If I get another one this year I'll document and post it with photos. However, if your local to SD I would encourage you to participate in the program and they will get the stones out for you.

Pretty soon I'll post a photo of my WSB Hunter necklace. Hawaiian fish hook out of koa wood, koa beads, and not sure if I want to use one or a few sets of wsb stones. Having it done at a local shop.

Grego, looking forward to seeing your necklace. Im thinking about a necklace or something for my stones too. Also I am looking forward to going to the hatchery next time i get down to that neck of the woods. Sounds like a real cool place. Big props too to the WCWers that offered to donate potential winning to the program.

Dave, you can just show up and drop off the WSB heads.

They will mail you the stones, make sure let them know in advance.

Eye pearls

The eyes are like pearls, collected some but they cracked apart with time.
I was told pearl neckless were made out of them by the Indians.
