Cabrillo 1/26
Went out Tues. morning for a few hours before the rain started. Wanted to check out some different places for me. Hit the bait barge just after sunrise. Bill at the barge said they are gettin a little low on bait, but that the boats were out and hopefully catching some. The bait they have is very nicely cured though, so get it while you can. After about 15 minutes of drifting I picked up this guy.
http://i650.photobucket.com/albums/u...w/P1260036.jpg Only 25 inches though, so back into the drink he went. Finally caught another Sculpin after a couple months of none. Ended up with 2 of them this being the smaller. http://i650.photobucket.com/albums/u...w/P1260037.jpg Changing baits after the rains draws a crowd. Before I threw the first dead bait out there was only 1 pelican in the area. 2 minutes after tossing the second dead bait out there were probably 20 of them all around me. http://i650.photobucket.com/albums/u...w/P1260038.jpg Then I got lucky. http://i650.photobucket.com/albums/u...w/P1260039.jpg http://i650.photobucket.com/albums/u...w/P1260042.jpg 36 inches 18.4 lbs. Not a La Jolla monster, but not bad for the harbor. Fished the area for about another hour for only the larger Sculpin, then beat feet for the launch as the wind started to pick up. Got Bill at the barge to snap a couple quick pics, and off the water by 11:30. |
Nice Job Greg! hope your lucky streak continues.

That's a nice halibut. Way to get out before the rain :cheers1:. Is that Cabrillo in San Pedro?

Yep, Cabrillo is just the beach where we launch at the West end of San Pedro Harbor.
