10/17 Black's BEAVER!

Weatherman got it wrong....sort of. Surf had been downgraded overnight and mostly clear skies and light winds, had me heading west at 5:30 AM.
I knew I would be alone out there today, as with good weather it has been nearly void of fisherman for the most part.

Headed north and found masses of candybar sized greenbacks all over the glassy surface. Filled my tank and set out to a spot that I had decided upon, after some gracious advice was given to me by Rick (DaGoose on bloodydecks). I have been striking out lately and needed to hear from the master:) . I was trying out a set of homemade outriggers to increase my 30" beam to bounce 2 rigs and avoid tangles (look closely at the 1st picture). Just like offshore (Razorback) I hear a "THWACK!" Knockdown! and line is peeling. The way it took off my first thought was another shark, as that has been my luck lately. After running along the bottom it started coming up like a kite and I knew it was good. Then "THWACK!" the other line goes off, I just kept my mind on the rod in hand, Grabbed the gaff and it took off along the surface, turned it back and seeing one point of the treble in her chin, I gaffed it as quick as I could. Pulled up the second line to find a raked bait with the stinger loose from the mackeral. Wind was kicking up from the south and looked like it was going to rain sooner or later, so I headed for the beach.

Nelz, sorry to hear you shit your weekend away :D Water looked bluegreen, not that lime green that has been hanging around. Acres of small greenbacks, scattered birds, looks promising. Since I got some pointage, Wednesday, I may go looking for yellars...............or marlin :D

Yellars

Hey Andy, I heard from a reliable source of an 18lb YT caught on the dropper loop at Southwest in 120'. Might be time to look at the yo-yo to catch some home gaurds. Nice flatimus. I may be off to Cabo again to deliver another yacht. Might get to fish the Bisbee and the WON Tuna challenge. Kelvin
