I know it's nothing new so I won't go into a huge long story like my first post! but the bite was hot yesterday. I caught 6 greenbacks and 1 Spanishusing the squid concoction by 720, best part was watching ol Mr. Hammerhead just swim right between my kayak and someone else' like nothing was going on..but heading out of the kelp about 3/4 mile in 160' of water and dropped it down....BOOM got hit in 5 minutes right around 0800, fought for 10 minutes but he chewed through my 30# leader and got off. I was soooo amped I had a hard time getting another hook on, dropped it down hit again and this time pulled him up in 10 minutes. My bro Roger came out to same spot, dropped a greenie got hooked up, dropped another one right after, hooked again. Everyone around us was hooking up too. Saw numerous people catching their first YT's out there on their first trip out..that's sick!:you_rock: Some of us got to experience the biggest boil we have ever seen in our lives, it was massive and they ran right threw us and we were hoping all the yellows were rounding them up and that we would get hooked up, no one did but man was that insane!

Met more new people like Peter, Justin, Chad, Alex, and I really enjoy that aspect of kayak fishing! Tight lines!!!

Congrats. Sounds like a great trip. Yellow tail have a strong jaw but just tiny sand papery teeth. I wonder what bit you off. Keep up the good work. Mike

That's what I was thinking too, im use to them going straight down..this one took off at an angle..I like to say I got bit off instead of my knot failing :):linesnap:

Nice catch Ryan. It was nice to meet you out there and glad I ran by you. Some of that fishing mojo rubbed off and I picked up my first YT right when we were trolling by each other :).

Way to go Ryan, I was out that morning for a couple hours before work and could not make bait, just a few Calicos. You're dialed in now!

Where did you guys make bait? Been hearing about a lot of people going to the pier?

You may have been bit off by a Bonito. Some have been 10 lbs or bigger in that area.

Honestly I just use squid and this stuff called buttjuice made by procure and go by the kelp as I head west. This was the first time I loaded up on that many greenbacks, but those yellows will eat both green and Spanish.

Very true, my boy that was with me caught a monster Bonito in our area that we were in

Nice yellow. It looks like you have it down now, Ryan. I'm hoping to get out this Monday. The bite seems to be increasing, I just wish the Hammers would find somewhere else. They are starting to be as much a pest as the seals. Mark

Mark, I just saw that one and both times that I went out as far as I did..no sea lions or hammers...just that one while I was making bait.
