To do a fishing report or not to do a fishing report?

This is the question.

Forgot to mention, NO NAMES WILL BE RECORDED AFTER YOU HAVE VOTED

Since there is an ongoing debate to post ontime fishing report and to wait to post on time fishing report.

I started this poll.

:cheers1:

On this PUBLIC board there are five types of people:

1) Spammers

2) Power Boaters

3) New kayakfisherman who want to know where to fish

4) Elite kayakfisherman who don't want to expose a hot bite

5) Kayakfisherman who dont' care

There are probably more:

Please post your opinions here

I say do whatever makes you happy. The naysayers can pound sand on both sides. You can't catch fish if you don't go fishing though.

when I was a #3 I aspired to become a #4

Over time I became a #5...mostly...

I'm a number 3 newbie who could care less like in number 5.

I just like to fish and lobster and I always catch something and all I know is that this is super fun and very addicting, just ask my wife on the latter.

I'll stay out of this one; and, anyone of these threads for the remainder of time.

Perhaps, someone more computer literate than myself (which would include just about everyone on this board), could dig up the other hundred-or-so, ridiculous, silly, threads that got out of control---about this exact same subject!

Like I said, I'm not the best with search engines and such, but below I've posted a link to, one, of God knows how many, threads that require two glasses of wine to finish.

Speaking of, if you haven't had the pleasure of reading through a few of these, a bucket of single malt Scotch, small batch Bourbon, half bottle of wine or your favorite 40 oz is mandatory to read this. Better yet, make it a double. I don't care if you don't drink, trust me---mandatory!

Sit back, take your shoes off and enjoy! :biggrinjester:

To each his own.

Unless you're sharing information about the 'hot bite' with someone who can get out right then and there it really doesn't matter who you share it with. Some of us have families, bad shoulders, no money, jobs(graveyard in my case) and that awful honey-do-list. Look at the every post, look at who's catching the fish on a regular basis, its the yakkers that can get out right there and then, not those(like me) that live 100miles from the hot bite. As for me, I go when I can regardless of whether or not there is a hot bite. I have three wsb this year and countless hali's....still waiting for that YT, it'll come and I'm sure it'll come when I least expect it and that isn't during the 'hot bite'.

again, to each his own

Haha I was hoping he was the first to see it. I'm sure a few keyboards will get spit on when people see that =)

I and a few others fish with him on a regular basis and unfortunately also talk to him on a regular basis. I know that the minute he see's this he's going to print it, show it to his wife, kids, neighbors, his students and I'm also sure he'll frame it. The worst part is that he'll probably vacuum seal a copy of it and show it to us every trip and remind us during every phone conversation.

Post if you feel like posting, dont if you dont. To each his own, it is what it is. I choose not to post more times than not. Not because I dont fish much (is 2 to 3 times a week a lot?) or dont catch fish (I dont have a waterproof camera thus I dont catch fish cuz i cant prove it) but its just not my thing anymore. To be completely honest im here more to look at quality fish porn and enjoy the stories. I dont fish in most the areas you all fish anyway so a timely report on a given area doesnt bother nor make me happy. I just enjoy the reads and try to learn something new every chance I get. Id put myself in the #3 slot without the wanting to know where to fish part, and the #5 slot also cuz who am I to tell you what you can and cant post and when you can and cant do it, nor do I care.

Just my 2 cents...

JUST GO FISHING!!!!!!

Thats how you better understand your environment.

Just not in the rain because the rain can hurt you and fish are allergic to the rain........

I concur:

Roughly 15 trips to LJ
200 miles round trip
Average of 5hrs drive time per trip
average of 6hrs on the water

Call it research, call it luck, call it the hot bite, call it whatever you want

DESTROYER 10-05-2011 03:26 PM

I missed that thread Josh, thanks for sharing.

I liked Madscientist's quote about never catching a fish from the couch.

Most of you won't see much of me out in LJ fishing for the elusive YT, WSB or Halibut anymore. I will still chase them from time to time but I've change my passion towards Calico Bass, Sand Bass, and Spotted Bay Bass. The thing I know about those species is that they will always be there and for me they are fun to catch.

I voted "No" I don't share or post right away because when I did I got crap for it just like many others. Most of my crap was from phone calls and not on a private forum. Soon, I was no longer in the "Click" because I was known for ruining bites. I had to be a Pioneer and create my own bites which I did from time to time but not all the time. So, moving forward, I now enjoy sharing my fishing days with others and no one cares about BASS. To most of you they are by catch. But to me, a 6 pound Calico is a trophy.

The next time I catch a nice fish in LJ, I will not have a problem posting a picture and a story. I feel I have grown up and those around me will either accept me for who I am or avoid me like the plague.

I've been around this industry for a long time now and I think you should do whatever you feel is good. Have fun and fish! :cheers1:
