yO eAST cOUNTY!

Has anyone ever camped here? Kumeyaay Lake Campground Mission Trails?

http://www.mtrp.org/campground

I am looking at this as a base camp for a Friday-Sunday Group event in June. Not a fan of Campland, 4 sites for 2 nights there was over $1000 :the_finger: and there would be extra vehicle charges and extra people charges on top of that.

Great bathrooms with hot shower

You feel like your country...right in the middle of town and BBQ fire ring close to liquid store and Mary's donuts and Mexican food on mission gorge peacefull worth the drive definitely

good to hear! Thank you. Straight shot over the hill to La Jolla :D

I live in the navy housing right above it. It looks ok if you don't mind "camping" in the city. But yes its a straight shot to LJ on the 52. Its about 15 min or so. But its clean out there.

I have never seen a Google Map aerial shot of an empty SoCal campground before

Funny - lived here all my life and never knew it was there. But then, never had a reason to seek out tent camping sites either.
I actually flew over it once while in the bombardiers seat of a B-17...

I dug a little deeper. The campground is closed Mon-Thur unless Monday is a holiday.

That would explain a deserted SoCal campground.

Campland is like camping in a parking lot, squeezed in there like sardines and 5 X the price of this place. I think it will work out very cool.

good find Andy...

its good for those weekend overnight stays, where you want to fish la jolla two days together.

MITCHELL 04-17-2017 05:28 PM

If that doesn't work out....

I grew up around this area and spent many years fishing bass, carp and sunfish in the SD river nearby. The campground is fine, nothing crazy. But you have mission trails right there, hiking, rock climbing, mtb, etc. Lake Murray is right over the mountain and as mentioned super close to La Jolla on the 52.

Depends on what you want to do...

entertain a family or fish lajolla, you can do both at both places...didn't no lake Murray had over night camping ....where ever you go make reservations early before they book up...for the summer.

Once I get my Ride rigged up proper, I'd be totally down for this. Group trip?

I was just telling my wife how much I miss camping and fishing in AZ.....
