Utah trip 2182018. loong, W/pic. Final

Part five:
ZION NATIONAL PARK VISIT:

Sunday, March 4th

1-Driving back to the motel in Bicknell. No picture, but I almost hit a moose crossing the road.

2-Got even colder at the summit on the way to the motel.

Monday, March 5th

3-Next morning, the ice was formed on the windshield. On the inside.

It must have been due to warm air inside the cabin.

4-Huge faces of mountains carved by wind.

5-Scene on the HWY 24 going east. I missed the turn on HWY 12, and for (18) miles was going the wrong way.

Garmin lady kept saying make a “U” turn and I kept on going. Until finally I stopped to double check the map. She was right.

6-Wild turkeys in the distance.

7-If you look closely; you see some deer in the picture.

8-Whenever I travel, going the wrong way does not bother me. Because everything is new to me.
In this case I got to see interesting rock formations.

9-This sign was at the rest area on the summit on the way from Fish Lake to Las Vegas.

ZION NATIONAL PARK VISIT:

10-First scene of the Zion National Park.

http://www.photos.inherentlydifferen...3887621-me.jpg

11-Even the road is made of a rust color material to match the surroundings.

http://www.photos.inherentlydifferen...06d7175-me.jpg

http://www.photos.inherentlydifferen...3bedc4f-me.jpg

12-After traveling through a one mile long tunnel, I was the south entrance of the Park.
Due to road construction, there was (15) min or so delay as north bound and south bound traffic took turn to use the HWY.

On the south end of the Zion National Park, there was a very nice town. However, due to congestion and road work, I decided not to stop. I saw many places to eat and shops and galleries. Next time.

13-One last picture of the red mountain.

14-Finally the sin city, Las Vegas.

Once more I spent few hours at the Silverton Casino to play BJ and rest from driving. I even got “comp” for a free buffet dinner.

By 11:00 PM I was home. No wait it was 10:00 PM due to time difference.

No matter how humble it maybe, there is no place like home.

The End.

dude, i know all of those places intimately. lived there for years, still have lots of family there (lucky for me you didn't give up more of my secret fishing spots)
. We need to keep this stuff secret! The accepted practice is to tell everyone how - mundane the trip was, but Colorado - thats the place to go, forget Utah, its just in the way of you getting to Colorado - which is where you want to be!

Thanks for a good chuckle.

I hope I am helping Utah in sending more tourist there.

Better choice would be a quad, since it could be used in Baja as well.

However, not much chance of either. When I go back to Utah next winter, I will stay at the Berry and use theirs.

I hope to do that in July.

I have cabin rented at fish lake for a week in early June for some yak fishing...going solo I guess but will be awesome. 4 wheel drive opens up a lot of not often fished waters

You don't need 4x4 other than winter months. Even then roads are cleared most of the time, unless they are closed.

fishnstix 03-22-2018 02:49 PM

I bought a map from the US geological society and there are many 4x4 unimproved roads that lead to small beaver ponds and streams that are filled with feeeshes. They are al within a few hour drive of FL...gonna rock em all
