Weekend Halibut Trip- PB!
I went up north a ways with some buddies to target Halibut. Surf launch was fun (landing was even more fun, I threw it in there at the end of the video) and live bait was hard to find. We used dead squid and I landed several fish on bait and jigs, with a personal best 32.5" Halibut coming just a couple hours after launch!

Cool video, Mike. That's a lot of good meat! Congrats on your PB.

You made it look easy. :reel: Well done, and congratulations on the new PB!

Beautiful day, you hit it just right. Nice catches too! Was that Big Sur area?

My uncle used to take me bounce balling for halibut off that coast. We had to use a hand dolly to push his skiff down the pier before using the hoist at the end to drop it in the water. The state does not allow its use anymore so I'm not surprised at your fishing. 40 years ago you had to be very careful with radio talk because a gillnet would be on your spot soon after. Don't worry I won't give it away. Nice to see your sucess and revive faded memories.

Thank you! No, it wasn't the Big Sur area but I would love to run a trip out that way. Not sure how to get in the water though, at least easily |
Caught my first legal halibut as a kid north of the pier. Great memories of that place
