Peak your transducer?

Anyone do this? It's kind of an old article so I didn't know if it still applies.
I have a Lowrance 4 Elite HDI and a Hook 4x.
Otherwise, I'll see what happens this weekend!

Very interesting information.
I am wondering the same, if it's still applies to current devices.

Ya it works for any unit. really you just want the sensitivity or gain up as high as you can go without getting a ton of noise back in the water column. You can go even higher if you have some sort of filter or noise rejection.

only problem with that is when you are around a bunch of other boats you will get a ton of interference. Then you have to either change your ping speed, switch frequencies, or crank up the filter.

Back in the day I used to think all the random small marks and fuzzies were interference or noise. But most the time there is actually something there. The 200khz especially can pick up really small shit like krill, copepods, sea grass, or even a thermocline.

Post some sonar pics from your experiments this weekend!
