Those thinking of fishing the big bay

Starting Friday, the San Diego Yacht Club and Coronado Yacht Club will host the largest national sailboat racing circuit in the U.S. as the Helly Hansen National Offshore One Design (NOOD) Regatta series makes a stop in San Diego. This is the second of the five-race series. There will be an estimated 700 sailors competing on San Diego Bay and nearshore ocean waters for the event’s top prize

That's unfortunate. Of all the times I have felt unsafe on the water in the bays it was usually due to sailboats. I think they drink more than fishermen.

thanks for the heads up. I'll be sure to steer clear.

Saturday was the best spring fishing day EVER! 95 degrees, no wind, just like Mexico. Rode the outgoing tide to the mouth of the harbor from SI and fished the incoming tide starting around noon.

Didn't see any more sailboats than usual and navy security left me alone, too. I must not have looked dangerous.

Caught the snot out of sandys AND I had to fight the cormorants away. They were crazed! One time I had two between my legs in the PA, chasing a mackie.

Tide was high when I got back to SI, so the haul to the truck was short. Went over and had a craft a beer at the SI pier. Perfect freaking day!
