went to L.J. on 8/29, early a.m. 2 to be exact.
sand was soft barely made it to the beach to launch. on the way out, got stuck. tried to dig my way out, but just got more stuck. thought that i would be waiting for good old AAA to pull me out.
thank god that it was way early and no one of you guys were sitting at home wishing that you were at L.J. fishing; but watching the web cam and making fun of us non 4x4 vehicles getting stuck.
but anyways glad that Dennis was there to help me out. Dennis is a member of bwe, handle is "new guy". thanks to him pulling me out, i was able to enjoy myself fishing rather than cursing at myself.
here are some pictures for your amusement

Couple weeks ago I had a personal best helping dig out 3 people in a row:auto: ..... using the small shovel and rubber mats that I always carry. I would not of been able to park my truck otherwise.

that IS amusing, thanks.

This sport has a great community of fishermen. Good job on helping out.

In 2wd and way early, air down to 10 lbs tire pressure if you are 2wd and see it is soft, or realize that sand driving is really about momentum....which doesnt work when the tourists and lifeguards are around:D airing up after a day of fishing sucks....but it sucks less than being that guy.

The sand has been really soft lately. I have needed to use 4WD on my last couple trips.

Bummer of a morning. I decided to not even try the sand with my mini-van. I park it and use the yak-cart and hoof it along the sidewalk.

One thing you may want to consider if you are consistently driving onto the beach is to buy a GOOD tow strap(meaning sewed ends, not metal hooks as they can become dangerous projectiles) available many places on line or at Off Road warehouse. Then when you are stuck you can have it out and ready and I wont have to get mine out, sandy and wet. I have never turned down towing someone out of a situation unless they have no tow points, but I really appreciate someone who is prepared!

thanks guys for all the pointers. regards to the tow strap; i have actually purchased and put it on my check list of items to bring for my kayak.
but if the sand is really soft, i'll be using my pull chart. lessoned learned on this one.

Last year I pushed more people out of the sand then I want to tell You about.

-If you see a guy hauling a Kayak on his vehicle - and He is Stuck - Please Help the Poor Bastard.
After all He is one of Us.:)

I can't say the same for AZ Plated Mini Vans, but thats up to you.
