Meh, as always I wait a couple weeks AFTER the opener so things settle down and crowds are less.
Besides, TUNA are in paddle range again!!

You know... its really gross that we call them bugs.. a little too accurate.. Kinda makes you associate them with roaches, and that is not something I am going to consider eating.

New regs go in effect next year.

Also, remember that all of your lobster cards are due back at the end of the season. Even if you bought one online, realized it won't get here in time, and bought one at big 5. That first one is still under your name. If you know you won't use it you can mail it in right away and that'll take care of it.

I'm sure some of the members here have gotten dinged that non report fee for a card they forgot about [emoji6]

Do we need to put the license number on the buoys this year? If so is there a size requirement for that?

octico 09-30-2016 11:36 AM

Very funny!

I bet you have been waiting months to write this post. Good one.

Zed 09-30-2016 11:55 AM

Not this year. My guess is size requirements will be similar to D-crab regs. Can't find a size for that either though.

Light regs?

Can anyone tell me if navigation lights are required on a kayak at night?

My gut says not required but you definitely want to be plenty visible. Lots of boats out especially tonight. More than a few people drinking while waiting too. Stay safe!

The Sherrif stopped us one morning leaving DP and laid down the law. A 360deg light and a spotlight you can shine at others. One of us didnt have their headlamp (spot) and but we all had 360s. He let us go as it was going to be gray soon. But he made sure we knew it was his graciousness allowing us to procede w/o the spot.
