Well I cheated a little and didn't use my PA14 (skiff was looking neglected) and hit the water out of Oceanslime and well.....good day to be out.:reel:

According to this handy-andy halibut length/weight chart, 42" comes in at 34.3 pounds.

Pretty close, came out to 35.1 pounds. Nice to know those charts are pretty close as theres been a few times I didn't have a scale handy. Sucker was THICK!!!

It looks like you were a little longer than 42".

As the length goes up, the weight increases exponentially.

Minimum legal size is not very heavy.


Nice catch! I want one of those! Seriously, I would rather have halibut for Thanksgiving :)
