Mammoth & Yosemite

Taking my son, dad and brother up there in early July. Looking for spots to house 4. Pops cant do the camping. Lake Mary would be nice... and then Yosemite? No idea. Want to hike to local streams and fish the back county while pops relaxes and has a good view. Any suggestions?
Happy New Year!

Big fan of VRBO. I have looked at stuff in those areas but have not rented there yet. I booked a cabin above Lake Cuyamaca for our upcoming 25th anniversary in April. Have booked a couple houses in MX in the past and even a local beach house for my daughters graduation last Summer

Mammoth is full of rental units and you'll find something easy. Yosemite is a little harder since there is limited options inside the park.

Vrbo and/or homeaway (vrbo is the original vacation rental by owner site, theybwere bought by homeaway) are great options. I use to work for vrbo and they are a great company. Again all under homeaway now. Great customer service, should there be an issue. And have a whole trust and securities department dedicated to anti fraud/undesireable owners.

Ive used vacation rentals for everything from quick getaways to places for family to stay for my wedding.

Vacation rentals are a great way to get away comfortably and save some money, with the right rental and setup.

I don't know Iceman personally but I think he actually used to deliver ice. Read something in a post of his a long time ago. BTW Iceman, I do look forward to running into you on the water someday. Maybe Barrett will be in better shape next opener after all this rain.

Correct, I owned a small ice company in El Cajon from 1992-2007..........I heard it all day long "The Iceman is here" or " The Iceman Cometh" :D

Just a heads up. With all the weather blasting the sierras this week, we could have a year where the lakes on the Mammoth loop don't ice out until late July. It had happened before to me on a trip I planed on the 4th of July about 5 years ago. Yosemite won't have that problem.

I have had years where Rock Creek Lake still had ice on July 4th weekend but I think June Lake is usually clear by the trout opener
