Congrats another nice one. Maybe the bite is better with the fog.

Awesome catch. These fish really like you. What depth? NW corner?

The bite is better when there's not million people on yaks and skiffs trolling all around. Go on a day when the fishing is "slow" and you might be surprised.

Schools.

I was marking a wolf pack below a bait ball being surfaced, so im assuming this was one of the pack. A seal was trying to intrude so my buddies were launching surface irons at him to keep him off me. Large bait boils afterwards, but nothing was really underneath pushing them up, kind of weird. I did dial in my FF, with the +2% on auto sensitivity, with surface and noise off. :cheers1:s

I'll be off work in a few months, might be able to sneak out on a weekday if the wife lets me. We are expecting our second son in June.

I reached out to you on the radio, but no reply. We switched over to channel 65 due to the traffic.

And yes it was crazy busy out there Sunday!!

Denis_Ruso 03-20-2017 09:53 AM

Saw you out there, made the drive down from Malibu. Seems like the whole plastic fleet was out there. I was fishing that spot when I was surrounded by 5 of you guys and you hooked up haha. Congrats on the fish.

We were loading up in the white GMC in front of your truck.

NICKWORN 03-20-2017 10:38 AM

Yea we ended up running into my buddy Chad and his friend. It was crowded and having six of us rolling around like the "BLOOD GANG" took up a lot of water, especially when those boils started happening. Id imagine if a few of us hooked up during that it would have been chaotic!

Right on man, well good luck next time, I hope you get into some, especially with that drive man. That's dedication for sure!:cheers1:

It looks like you have a cover of some sort on the sonar head unit... this that a waterproof housing?

NICKWORN 03-20-2017 10:47 AM

BerleyPRO sun visor, works pretty good, nothing is going to keep the sun off it at certain angles though. It does help with keeping splash marks off the screen.

Nice yellow bro seen you at lunch after words. I think I got picked up once but might of been sea dogs. I did see the wolf PAC on my FF then my bait got slammed but then I seen that seal at the same time. Frist bait I know he got then I immediately droped another bait in didnt think I was going to get picked up. So started working the flat fall on the wolf PAC for two slipped hook ups then my other fly lined rod got slammed and almost flipped my kayak. Bye time I went to grab my rod he was off. Any how i haven't been out to La Jolla in like year so it was nice to get back out there. Also the kelp has made a nice come back. Dude I was catching supper sized what looked like sardines not sure if they were, but that's what, was available so I put that sucker in the water. Any how nice catch brother. Hope to get back out there soon. Plan on putting lots blood on the yak this yr.

IS that the kayak where you modded the seat on? i worry about stability since it's so much higher. :reeling::reeling::reeling::reeling:

it is the ascend seat and your right its sits about the same as the highest position on the newer models. It takes a second to get used to but I love and have even taken it lobster hoopin with 5 hoops on the back, so its plenty doable!

I use an Ascend seat on my P2T and it doesn't seem unstable. At first it felt kind of hinky and I scared myself a couple of times but now that I am used to it it feels fine
