Oceanside Harbor - Anyone else not know about this code?

Apparently kayaks and SUPs weren't allowed before.

Absolutely no clue. I have fished Oceanside Harbor a ton this year. They have been renting out kayaks and such for years also. If this were a law, it has not been enforced for a very long time. I was shocked to learn that this law was recently repealed.

Giving Right of Way

Interestingly, the article mentions several times that kayakers and SUPers must yield right of way to other vessels. I think this may be the part they start enforcing.

Might get interesting, as a couple times the wife and I have been out in yaks, she's been nearly chased by someone in a rental sailboat. No matter which way he paddled to get out of the way, they course corrected and continued straight at her, missing her by only a couple feet. If they did hit her, it looks like she'd get the ticket for "not yielding right of way".

Sure didn't. I launched Oceanside harbor I think back in June with Stevie, and ran into a few guys that fish there regularly and nobody said anything.

I got passed by Harbor police like 5 times this week they didn't say a word to me. But they did rescue a few yakkers from the harbor inlet it was gnarly!!

someone should look into buying one of the abandoned boats from there I was thinking about it the other day and the article says they have abandoned boats there probably cheaper than dirt who knows there could be some decent ones out there

Funny considering the city put in a kayak and sup launch about 5 plus years ago...I call bs on the article. Friend of mine is harbor police and said only prohibited non power vessel is a float tube. You know what they say if it's online it's true:D
