Pro Staff?
 

So how does one become "pro staff" for a product anyway?

It's tough!

I don't think there is one person out there that can give you the perfect answer. Doors have opened for me mostly becuase of relationships I have built with people. Being a really good fisherman is not what it's all about, but it does help.

The fishing companies get hammered by inquiries of being on pro staff. They need to feel like they are getting something in return. I would say that its all in who you know and how you carry yourself as a person. If you would like to know more, feel free to PM me. Tight Lines!

Unfortunately there's not much money here in Kayak Fishing. But if you know the right people you might get hooked up. Of course you should have lots of experience and proven track record of catching and ability to sell yourself and the product (people skills).

Doing well in tournaments is also key. Doing some tourny's and scoring well will be your best way in. Think bass fishing, this is where there is more interest.

Matt is spot on. Building good relationships with people to the point where others know of you and have some form of respect for your skills and knowledge is the biggest thing. It is definitely a job, they dont just give you stuff for nothing in return. Also some companies are GREAT and others not so much.

I am very lucky to have Wildy and Izorline right now, these companies have treated me very well and due to that and them having great products, I stand behind them 100%

It's better being 'amateur staff'. There is less pressure to perform. Hell, I don't even have to fish to keep my status in good standing.

That pro staff stuff is over rated. Just have fun and fish. My 2 cents.
