LJ report for Friday
What a beautiful day out there. Glassy, warm, small surf and fish to be had. No monsters for us but a productive day all the same.
Bait at the southern can was a little slow as it started getting light, then it was all you wanted. We kept about a dozen apiece, mostly candy sized greenies. Aaron lost a greenback that was close to 6 lbs right next to the yak. We wanted to keep it for bug bait (and photographing). It was the biggest one he's seen in 35+ years of Socal ocean fishing. After making bait we went out in front of the condo to start fishing. Started hooking smaller yellows soon after, including this C&R'd one by Aaron: http://www.bloodydecks.com/gallery/f.../9/2/6/sCR.JPG Our day total for the two of us, 6 yellows (1 C&R'd) and 3 bonies caught right before heading in. Fresh bonies, yum-yum! |
congrats A&J!!!

Right on, A&J!
Hope to catch a few tomorrow. Mark |
Bonies=Yum-Yum? What is your recipe?
|
Bleed your bonies right away. Keep chilled ASAP. If they are soft and mushy when fileted, you've lost most of the battle. After that, almost anyway is terrific. Marinate with Soy Vay, Veri Veri Teriyaki (A marinade recommended for yellows by Iceman). Or with Italian dressing. Or just season up with your own spices. Then grill it. Or broil it. Also excellent smoked. Or don't cook at all. Eat raw with soy sauce and wasabi. It's all good!
When done properly, people are amazed at how delicious it is. |
