No idea of the depth and where to find them too, but u want to launch from MDR beach? or inside harbor?

from what i heard they are in water around 120ft - 200 ft deep on bait, which could be a hell of a paddle depending on how fast it drops off there, probably launch from the harbor, i dont know how the surf is around that area.

slimes

It should be easy to find them with all the Sporties on them..."The fish were in about 100' of water straight off the Venice Pier."...Remember these are the first fish of the season...They could be here 10 minutes or 10 days. They usually move around a lot when they first move in, but with all the bait in the Bay they just might stick around. Check the counts.
The launch from Venice Beach isn't always easy so the best bet might be to launch from the beach just to the north of the MDR entrance channel. It's a lot of sand to the beach but it's probably easier than the paddle down the channel if you don't want to brave the Venice surf and the big closeouts.
Good Luck

Should be a lot of boat traffic with the bite so close. Good idea to launch from the beach if your not using live bait. Good luck.
