11/8 LJ Nice finish to a slow morning
Another prettyful morning with gobs of sun and hardly a breeze. I decided to try iron and plastic and headed straight SW. Not many fishing, saw a couple yaks later in the morning, few PBs and 2 sporties wandering around, they both finished around SW Ended up with a boney, sandie, whitefish and a mackeral bigger than them all. As I paddled in, around 100 yards out in front of the launch. I am looking down at the bottom and catch something out of the corner of my eye, directly in front of me on a collision course. I grabbed my camera as this lil grey whale passed right under me in 20 feet of water. Very cool way to end the morning. wish I had a polerizing lens as this does not do the image I saw any justice.

Nice report Andy, what time did you paddle in? Its very windy on the water right now. Little white caps everywhere.

Nate i was on the beach at 10:15 it was still like a lake. Look at the glider link at 10:15 0 kts then it shot up to 12-16kts at 11:15

Great shot. Very cool indeed.

LJ truly is an amazing place

Cool shot Andy!
I have "cheated" and used my polarized sunglasses over the lens of my Pentax Optio camera in a pinch. My questions is where's MAMA!!! Ken |
Cool, indeed! Definitely some beautiful weather out there lately, too.
|
Truly amazing! Nice work!

always cool to see the whales come through, unless they blow out right next to you without warning. A few of the yt at the nados lately have been almost the size of that whale .
|
I got about fifty-feet out and then suddenly the great beast
appeared before me. I tell ya he was ten stories high if he was a foot. As if sensing my presence he gave out a big bellow. I said, "Easy big fella!" And then as I watched him struggling I realized something was obstructing his breathing. From where I was standing I could see directly into the eye of the great fish! http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...9/whaleeye.jpg |
KRAMER!!!!!!!!
|
Then from out of nowhere a huge title wave lifted, tossed like a
quark and I found myself on top of him face to face with the blow-hole. I could barely see from all of the waves crashing down on top of me but I knew something was there so I reached my hand and pulled out the obstruction! http://www.cantstopthebleeding.com/img/titleist.jpg |
No wait,,, that was George
|
It really reminds me of the scene in "Castaway" when the whale surfaces
next to Tom Hanks' raft towards the end of the movie.... |
Mammal.
