I'm good! The replacement parts cost wayyyy less than I thought. Getting them on was a breeze.

I just got off the phone with some of the boys, last I heard was that there was a community yard sale

Nobody drown, and no yaks lost, but that guy paddling the dory can sure put off a wake.:D

theluckypig 07-07-2012 08:36 PM

I can confirm that the water in the Pacific is very salty. I actually confirmed it multiple times.:D

Now to remove the sand crabs from inside my yak....

echo1er 07-07-2012 08:58 PM

glue and duct tape can fix that

I can confirm that most surf reports are pretty accurate, 5'-7' @ 8seconds means 5' - 7' @ 8 seconds. OOOooohh yeah, the tracking on most Hobie's is absolutely horrible.

Have you guys guys ever seen a polish guy fall off his kayak multiple times during launch. Or a Mexican guy names George do a 9 in the surf.

Well, i heard you had to be there!

StinkyMatt 07-08-2012 08:41 AM

Correction Frank: once on the launch and once on the landing:D

You know the waves are pumping when some of the surfers are on the beach watching cause they say the waves are too big.

When you see the lifeguards making bets on whether you'll make it in, it's not a good sign:eek:

That was an ugly rudder anyway... ;)

buttchaser 07-08-2012 12:05 PM

Sheesh , Brutal morning :ack2::biggrinjester:

Launching in the dark at 4:45 in that stuff was very interesting. Just wish i had turned on my GoPro for the landing :D:D:p:p. It was fun to watch the surfers get eaten up by the waves after. Watching Tony come over the top of 7-8 footer inches before it broke (sideways) was pretty kewl too.

Group launch, storage and landing mishaps - $2200. Clean launch and landing - kewl. Memories and a 41+# Halibut - Priceless.

Now that I look back at the morning I should have just driven down to Leo Carillo and launched from there.

Signs that tell you not to launch:

surfers standing on the waters edge scratching their head wondering if they should surf
two to three foot white wash
waves crashing 100yards out, literally
