8/16 Nine Mile Bank

Steve and I launched the AIs from Mariner Point and grabbed some horse dines before heading west. 2-3 kts going out made for good slow trolling. No life for us out there. 72 degree blue water, few kelp stringers but no legit paddies, no boats stopped, few trolled through as well as a swordfish boat.

7 kts coming in was wet and wild. Fun stuff even with out any fish. Would have loved to come across a marlin finning, breeezers, jumpers, foamers, bird pile or a productive paddie...........next time

Wow. Talk about a Big Ocean with Little Boats! :notworthy:

Too bad you couldn't have found the right kelp paddie and gotten into some of that hot Dodo action the sport boats (even 3/4 day) have had lately. Better luck next time.

You guys are hardcore....cool adventure.

George we got to get those attachments

Hmm. Makes me wonder. Im currently putting a trolling motor with a nice lifepo4 on my new x factor. Would make a trip like that possible. Would be sick to get into some tuna action!

Looks like my kind of fun :). I need to get out on one of those sometime.

bigbarrels 08-18-2012 12:24 AM

how much does the sail cost? things pretty legit.

Thanks for the invite, Andy. I was thinking about you guys out there. I'll be doing some thing like that soon. You'd think LJ would be the place where do-dos would come closest to shore but it's actually north of Oside off the domes to the LCAC base. It might be a haul but a Dana Point to Oside trip would be an adventure. I don't know how many of you guys shop Pacific Coast B&T, but that huge dorado on the wall behind the counter was caught on the Helgrens 3/4 north of Oside while fishing sand bass. Mike

Like Kon-Tiki! Looks like a real hoot!

Anyone sail a Revo 13? Make me sure want to try it.
