Dana 12-15-12
Hit Dana this morning from about 6 til noon. Big tide swing today that had me hopeful, but I couldn’t ever find my target fish. Current was ripping south, which made fishing the deeper structure & kelp very difficult. About 9 am someone flipped the switch and turned on the wind. There was a washing machine mixed swell, which also added to the fun. I stuck out the deeper stuff til 10, then threw in the towel & went to Doho for a break from the weather. Doho was off color & dirty from the recent rain and I didn’t have much luck there.
I did get a few bycatch fish for my effort, all released. Cali http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...r/file-179.jpg Sandbass http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...r/file-180.jpg 24” Blue Ling http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...r/file-181.jpg Steve |
That's a nice looking lingcod!
The water definitely looks unhappy with itself |
Great report and nice variety of fish. Its good you made it back safe its scary on the yak in thr swell. Were you on your adventure?
|
Why are you not lipping the lingcod SteveO?
Any day fishing is a good day. |
you looked pretty far from the headlands. How deep?
|
No skunk at least. And you got out.

Other than the wind, it was a nice day. Had the same luck as Steve but I did bring a handful of these up to the boat. All released safely
This photo shows just how dirty the water was in the shallows http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...6at40447PM.png |
