REWARD!

Well, after only owning my GoPro Hero 3 Black edition for 5 days, It now resides as the bottom of the San Diego bay.

If in some freak miracle, it washes up somewhere and you find it. I would really like the memory card back.

Your reward is the GoPro itself. I'm not worried about the camera, it was insured and USAA has already issued me a payment to replace it.

However, I took some cool footage with it this morning and really want it back.

Anyway, I know it's the longest long shot ever but I thought I try :(

I swam down 20ft and froze my ass off looking for it. The heartbreaking part was watching the live view on the mobile app and just seeing the bottom of the bay.

Lesson learned, more marine goop next time :o

StinkyMatt 12-20-2012 03:45 PM

Dude!

What the hell are you doing in the winter months?

Most of us have put our kayaks into storage and sent our reels in for service.

Bad ass.

Sorry to hear about the accident.

EH! you won't need it anyways...being that the end of the world is tomorrow! Some archeologist in 10000000 years'll dig that baby up...hopefully the memory card is still good;)

Biggameaddict 12-20-2012 04:32 PM

Thats sucks. Hope you can find it. Atleast usaa paid for it though.

oh man...if only I could see the faces of those archeologists when they play this "valuable footage".

engineer's point of view

More Goop, but equally as important redundancy. Add a tether...

bus kid 12-20-2012 06:45 PM

Bummer, did you sell your old one to jim for $50.00 yet?

Lipripper92592 12-20-2012 07:47 PM

Even if you Goop it up, always use a leash, or at least the float attachement. Pretty cool that you could still view the camera at that depth with your phone.

The floaty back door didn't keep my other model afloat when it had the Battery Baypac attached, so I didn't bother with this one. I was planning on spending the weekend leashing it down. It got knocked off the post of it behind my head :(

Discovered they don't float ten minutes into the first time we used one several years ago. GoPro jumped through hoops to get the cameras to us down in mexico for a shoot. I stuck it on the kayak, caught an amber jack, and the fish nailed it with its tail. Sent it to the bottom. Ooops.

Good luck getting it back...Crazier things have happened.

erinoo 12-21-2012 06:41 AM

Bet there is more than fish porn on that memory card :sifone:

wiredantz 12-21-2012 08:30 AM

I could only imagine what kind of things are recorded on the memory card....

Those large fins, with meat, super secret intel... This morning hot fish action.:drool5:

StinkyMatt 12-21-2012 08:54 AM

I wonder if there is other "tuna" action on that card?

I could see Neil walking into a bar with the gopro on his head and hitting on the ladies:D

Biggameaddict 12-21-2012 09:09 AM

Did you get a video of the lochness monster?

Jimmyz123 12-21-2012 09:42 AM

I learned after losing my first VHF radio that anything I don't want to lose NEEDS to have a leach attached. Sorry for your loss.

Well Drake, I gave it my best shot this morning. Did my inaugural launch and shake down cruise of the new PA14 this morning. Launched at Shelter Island to a low tide and after adjusting pedals, seat and HDS, went straight across the bay and out towards ground zero. My hopes were that even though it sank, it would have just a little positive buoyancy and maybe get pushed up into shallow water or even the beach by wake action of boats going by. After working in zig zags shallow to deep I came up empty. I then headed out to the tip of Zuniga jetty, back across to the point and back to Shelter Island - 4 hours in total.

Wow, I really really appreciate the effort. I wasn't expensive a search and rescue mission, but that was extremely kind of you :you_rock:

I hope it didn't cause you too much time fishing
I'll be out in the bay tomorrow again. Maybe I'll get lucky. It sucks that everyone is out of stock on the camera, so I can't even replace it until after the holidays haha

wiredantz 12-21-2012 03:53 PM

Dont' worry neil, i am working on the secret footage.:D
