Alamitos Bay 3/17
2 Attachment(s)
Sorry I didn't get this up yesterday, my first report. Just snagged a couple Hobie Outbacks this weekend, one from Ddwineguy in San Diego, my buddy and I took them out for christening yesterday in the bay. More than anything just wanted to get them in the water and see how long the loading/unloading/driving/launching process would take, and it wasn't too bad.
We were trolling 3" big hammers of various colors through the bay most of the day, I caught a baby Calico (I think?) and the mack attack hit us several times (probably caught 8 between the two of us). I was throwing a crank and my friend thew a Lucky Craft for a while, but no bites. Was definitely a good first outing, looking forward to more epic adventures ahead. After getting accustomed to the boats we definitely plan on hitting up the oil islands and whatnot. ~Cyn |
that's a small sand bass.. where'd you launch? and how was it? That's a pretty nice looking outback.. says the person who was #2 in line for that boat

We just launched off Mother's Beach and parked on the street, we used to cart to get the boats to the sand.
The outback you can actually see in the pic was off Craigslist (the seller had two of them, a blue and a yellow). The one I'm on with the fish finder was ddwine's. It was really fun fishing, I'm extremely glad I bought a Hobie as I can't imagine fishing/trolling having to actually paddle. :P Much respect to you all that do it with a paddling kayaks. I was also able to boat around for the evening (3 hours or so) without any fatigue at all. |
Peddling frees up your hands, it makes such a difference. Shhhhh. . . you can hold the fish closer to the camera to make them look bigger.

Hahahahah, nothing special in the bay on the FF, I certainly don't have any "spots" identified. :)

Sounds like you had a great time and that's what it's all about:cheers1: bump^^^ |
Congrats on the yaks. I actually emailed the seller of the craigslist kayak for a buddy of mine that's looking to get into the sport. It looked like a pretty good buy.

Cool, I went out in Alamitos Bay once since I got my Revo, Only one bite -- Using 3inch Gulp Mullet with 1/2ounce Jig Head.
Are you trolling with the jighead? -- And at what speed? -Mike |
Congrats on the fish
I'll be out Sunday most likely, either Alamitos or the islands depending how lazy I am that day. Hit me up if you guys want to roll. I'm glad you guys caught some fish.
