I might as well sell the yak...
if i keep getting fish like this from shore...
52", 41.1lbs Cobia from the sand.. http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i2...ps2df829e6.jpg http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i2...psae518c15.jpg http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i2...ps66daa6e3.jpg not too much of a fight on a 12/0 and 80lb mono, but dang does it taste good! |
That's killer! I dunno about selling the yak, but I dunno if I would get off the shore either! All you need is a lawn chair, bamboo umbrella, and a bucket of Coronas and lime, along with the Florida white sands and clear water you would pretty much be living up their commercials!

Nice Ling
We used to get those in TX off the oil rigs in the Gulf. Those things are bruisers. Very similar to Halibut in the way they come up green and go nuts on the gaff and on the deck. One of the best eating fish out there, a real trophy.
Congrats on a beauty. |
nice!
what were you targeting? What beach was this? Didn't know we had those out here... |
Damn! you keep putting post like that up we are gonna have to trade user names. And they are tasty!
|
i want to catch a fish like that!!!
|
Solid cobia! With that heavy setup I suspect you were targeting sharks?. Cobia can be found close to shore and far offshore. I have stalked those fish from Alabama shoreline on into Fla. Mostly sight fishing and casting freshwater eels from a 40' tower.(now thats a challenge). They kinda fight like Yt but once boatside a heavy duty gaff is essential!! Great fish from shore and happy eating:cheers1:

:D... Really nice fish from shore you have there. The FL coastline is great for fishing in general -to be sure.
HOWEVER.... get on your yak and head for the rigs, bridge piling, etc... There are some real leviathans that you can catch on that polyethylene boat you have there. :reeling: Have a great time from ship to shore, and keep the reports coming. |
I heart cobia
|
HOLY CRAP!!! :cheers1:
|
all I can say is :notworthy: I can't even fathom something that size in the surf...awesome job!
