What do you wear when you go fishing???

Hey guys, I will be moving to San Diego next month and I'm starting the process of figuring out gear and the style of fishing for SD. I am in Maui right now I wear board shorts, UV protective long sleeve shirt, hat, and sunglasses as my normal attire.I know what I have now wont cut it.... Just wondering what does everyone wear when there out in the colder water.

Thanks Nick

Welcome to the mainland.

I wear basically the same thing you do and I'm fishing in Newport Beach, which is colder than san diego. So...i don't think you really need to change anything.

Waders/splash pants always if not for staying dry then for staying out of the sun.

I've been wearing my wetsuit with just the top half down at my waist. Waters getting pretty warm though so I'm just gonna start wearing my board shorts out there.

I wear board shorts and a t-shirt year round, bit that's just me....

SD weather is pretty nice might be chilly in the morning sometimes ,but you are are pretty toasty by the time you hit the grounds.

I've found that my issue is not so much temperature/wind protection, as sun protection. Sitting in a kayak all day with the UV beating down from both overhead, and reflected off the water just burns the crap out of me.
Since I'm skin cancer averse, I dress like I'm fishing the flats in Florida, and use a buff and wide brimmed hat. I have been wearing just a pair of light hiking pants that zip off into shorts and deck shoes, but I still get sunburn in a band where the pants end and the shoe begins.
Starting this weekend I'll swap out the pants and deck shoes, and I'll be wearing Caddis breathable waders and Columbia Powerdrain shoes (that is if Bass Pro has them in stock up in Manteca).
Another benefit of waders that Wade informed me of - when you have that big WSB in your lap, the thicker waders protect you from dorsal spines - I can dream I guess...

I wear booties, trunks, a tshirt and a buff. It's pretty nice here all year like Richard said. The winter mornings and the wind is the worst

I'm a T shirt and boardshorts guy year round. Also wear a UV Buff, shades, and some sort of hat to keep my head from turning into leather when I get older. And finally a windbreaker or splash jacket that easily packs away as it gets warmer.

You're not far off from what most of us wear. It's only during the winter months that we throw on the waders or at least for me. I normally put on water proof pants for the sun protection factor, but not for warmth. If you wear what you listed above, with a PFD, you should be good to go.
