Seadek
Anyone have Seadek installed on their kayaks? I just received my seadek kit in the mail and will be putting it on soon. Will post pics of it after I am done. Was just wondering if anyone had any reviews they'd like to share on the product. I have heard nothing but good thing about.

I have been wanting to put it on my x factor but have not yet
|
I don't like to stick anything adhesive unless it is very durable. Don't like having things come off after a period of wear and tear.
Let us know how it handles. I may be a convert... |
We have installed a few for customers, It is good stuff.
Been waiting for probably 6 months for pricing from them so that OEX can stock it but despite my following up several times have got nothing. I will bug them again today. This is the coolest use of SeaDek that we did for an old time San Diego kayak fisherman now living in Virgina Beach area. https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.n...46499503_n.jpg |
Are those deck lights he has installed?

Seadek is just closed cell EVA foam just like the EVA tile you can get from Home depot. http://foamtiles.files.wordpress.com...tami-tiles.jpg I used EVA foam in the footwells and the rear well of my x-13 glued down with automotive trim (contact) adhesive. It raised the deck a half inch up front and I doubled it in the back for a full inch.. It adds virtually no weight, makes the yak quieter, raised the water line in back and acts like floatation. Five years later still no issues. I don't know what Seadek charges but Home depot EVA is dirt cheap and 3M spray trim adhesive is pretty inexpensive. |
I got the seadek kit for my stealth 12 for 70$ shipped. Gonna stick it on this evening.

Yep LED Deck Lights, we do a good bit of those. He also has a Blue LED Livewell Light so he can see inside the bait tank at night. Overall it is a nice clean package and is working out great for him. As for the Glue on the SeaDek, we just flashed the plastic with a torch then heated the adhesive. Lots of folks have been using this stuff for a long while and have no issues. |

Heres a pic of that Livewell light and the SeaDek on the side hatches.
More pics on the KFS Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/KayakFishingSupplies https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.n...97272831_n.jpg If we ever get pricing on having this stuff in store we were hopping to help develop these precut pieces for the other Malibu hatches along with kits for other popular boats. |

Nice idea with the home depot foam. What did you do around the scupper holes? It looks like the foam has a cutout near the foot area. Raising the waterline in the back would be great since everything back there is always sitting in a half inch or so of water. |

Rear the foam ends right at the scupper so my bait tank doesn't sit on the foam but lower on the original plastic and it drains through the scuppers. We're on the same page. That water back in the well was always an issue so I raised the rear deck with foam so it's above the water line. |

Why, isn't it for standing on? |

Here is the seadek finally installed came out good I think we will see how it hold up this weekend though.
|
Looks good now if I can find a kit for the new malibu x factor
|
Yep, need to wait :( until they make kits for the Outback. On the other hand I might go with the foam from Home Depot & sound proof the hull inside where I store stuff and rolls around inside (i.e. egg/torpedo sinkers, jigs etc). :(
Just an idea & my $.02  FFY |
