Does any one use one, what type/ weight?

Is there any better way to stay than having to drop down?

I use a 15# mushroom and it just drags under me while i do a suuuuuper
slow drift XD, and its hard to find a place to put it on my way out.

Any suggestions?

I have the type of anchor referenced in this video 4lbs or so. The key is to have the "release" in case it gets stuck.

I don't use an anchor pully BUT do connect the anchor to a bungee cord to the kayak to allow for some relief/give from sudden water movements. Otherwise you could tip the kayak.

I put a float at the end of the line where I tie to the kayak, just in case I quickly needed to release the kayak from the anchor.

I think I've used the anchor 2x.

I've never seen anybody use one in the ocean.
Personally I see it as a safety issue!!!

I have on the other hand,see folk use them in fresh water.

I don't anchor often in the ocean but will some times drop anchor In the bay. I have a 5lb 4 prong folding anchor rigged with 10 feet of chain and plenty of line. Its over kill but it never slips or drags. Also its rigged break away. The chain shackle is attached to the bottom of the anchor and then attached to the top of the anchor with a zip tie. If the anchor gets hung up a hard pull will break thhe zip tie and allow the anchor to turn over and come free. Your must room anchor mite work if you add some chain or let out more line. The chain is about as vital to anchoring as the anchor is. I store the set up in a small bucket, line on the bottom then chain then anchor. Mike

definitely gunna have to rework my anchoring system, ya i use it in the bay and fresh water but when I go deep i don't like to carry as much weight and hate caring all that rope. Just gets in the way. :ack2:

The chain is used to keep the prongs digging into the sand, used to use em while lighting up squid but now it's so much hassle I do t even bother

I use a grapple style anchor and depending on depth, the allotted amount of rope. Anywhere from 30ft to 300 and attach a nice buoy on kayak attached end so if im in a predicament just go ahead and detach to chase those big boys and just paddle back to the buoey
