The Korea Experience - Flyfishing the Nakdong River

Have been going out every weekend, but in the nature of go big or go home, sometimes you just go home. So not much to report as of late. Decided on a change of pace today so slept in and dusted off the 4 weight, headed to the Nakdong River. Caught plenty of three lips, small bass, and river tarpon to keep the day interesting. Here are a few of the catches, and some scenery pics from Hapcheon Lake (got skunked).

Originally tied these flies for bonefish and trevilly in Diego Garcia, but didn't do as much of that type of fishing as I thought so had plenty left. The fish don't seem to know the difference….

I recognize the largemouth. What are the others?

I like how you have your front rod holders set up:) Do you find that they are strong enough if you get a big one on? Are they out of the way of your knees? Thanks. Good travels.

Three lips and river tarpon (actually a kind of predatory carp)

Rod holders work OK like this, but not as strong as I would like. The ball can slip a bit from time to time, and the left one can unscrew itself since I have on the track. Wish they had a Ram ball for the track that tightened the opposite way. The right rod holder only tightens if you pull back, the left one can unscrew. I try to get them as tight as I can and just try to get a hand on the rod just in case.

Light tackle is no problem.

And yes, they are adjusted so they don't hit my feet or knees.
