question about fish finder?

Im looking at lowrance mark 5x DSI for 150 bucks. I know thats a steal but will the transducer fit on my 2013 xfator? And is it a good fish finder?

If u are selling your xfactor, then why would u be looking for a fish finder for it?

You can get an elite 4 dsi for about $150 right now. It's smaller but it had gps. Cabelas.com after $100 rebate.

Don't forget to use the $20 off coupon they are offering if you give up your email

Because although its for sale I still use it and if it ever sells ill just move the unit to the new yak. And sell it with the advertised unit.

Just curious, the DsI version is good up to 200ft in depth compare to 1000ft for non DSI. Is 200ft good enough for general kayak fishing around SD?
I guess its good as long as you are not targeting rock fish which usually 200+ down. Anyone want to share experience using DSI feature.

Your statement right here answers what you should do. Buy the box setup that OEX sells so that you can make your system portable. This way you can move it from Kayak to Kayak, or boat. It will fit on any Kayak you have, and you get a great FF at a great price.

You should get it.

That was my worry because I sometimes fish beyond 200 so iguess this would not be suitable for my needs.

200ft is plenty good for around here or anywhere. You can still use the basic fish finding for locating structure at 200ft plus, you may not be able to use the DI or the SI at that depth but the basic still works.

short answer is if you fish anything over 100 feet I would not recommend the DSI

Doesn't that go for most DSI systems?
