giggin frogs?
does anyone go giggin frogs from a yak? or know of ay good lakes fr it up in the orange county area?
|
I haven't so much as seen a frog big enough to gig in 20 years...
|
I used to gig quite a bit back in the mid west, and honestly a kayak would be a bad idea in most situations. Best bet is just to walk the shore with the brightest light you can legally carry.

I need to get my old PSE restrung and set up for bow fishing. Any suggestions on good startup gear? Ive looked at a lot some time ago but never pulled trigger. Id love to do the carp roundup form the yak, or from the skiff. |
I shoot a Retriever reel on this old recurve, but the Oneida I'm building right now will have a Muzzy (It's a closed face spinner made for bowfishing). The Muzzy's are way more popular, and actually shoot better than the retriever reels. Arrows are just the white fiberglass you can get at Dicks sporting goods or the local archery shop. I made the roller rest on the recurve when I worked in a machine shop in a past life, but the Oneida will have a Muzzy Fish hook rest. If you have the time, do a little searching on bow.fishingcountry.com tons of info there...

Bowfishing P.A.
My first post here, hope this works. Noticed the post from a couple days ago. I've been bowfishing from my PA for a couple years. You will do a few hundred reps of squats in a day of shooting. So the second day at Big Bear you might feel it. Shot both retriever and muzzy reels last year. The muzzy cost me about $150 in arrows. If you forget to push the button before each shot you will lose arrows. My suggestion if you are prone to lapses in memory as I am, shoot a retriever reel. There is nothing to remember, just nock your arrow and shoot. Good luck.

Thanks for info guys, it is something I have thought about for a long time. I dont have the time to practice enough to bow hunt anymore so this bow is just sitting here unused.
