...never made it to Dana Point...got to Newport around noon...caught half a dozen spotties...WFO on the little macks...kept a few macks for catfish bait at Perris Lake...paddled from the Newport Aquatic Center to the harbour entrance...arms are rubber now

Nice haul for winter time. Why did you launch so far back? Just looking for some exercise?

I have done that looooooong trip.

Launch for free at the coast guard station. Paved walkway to he water, free washdown and free secure parking.

That's a good reason. I too prefer the USCG/Harbor Patrol beach. Though sometimes I'll launch on the Peninsula.
