Every yr growning up from the time I was seven my dad and uncle would get me a new rod and new Shimano Curado reel, spoiled I know! So I figured I would do the same for my son, only start him off a little bit earlier. I picked up an American series Seeker blank, 5'6" 20 (30) 50, and then camo'd it. Figured it would look a little better than the good ole orange. I then added camo grips and and an Alps reel seat to it and kept it pretty simple. Topped it off with a camo Avet SX! Must be rough getting a $400 set-up for your third b-day! Here is a look at it.

Seems pretty strategic to me! Dad might be able to use that reel as well. Sweet custom job on that rod, the combo looks really cool.

What the hell man, skipped right over the Spider Man combo :p

skrilla 03-31-2014 10:15 PM

Sweet. Dont leave it in the bushes. :p

I read somewhere that Seeker rods and AVET reels must be taken out in the sun to ensure that the carbon/ aluminum/ silicon/ titanium components receive enough ultraviolet energy.

Make sure that you take your son's combo out for some light a few times a year.:D

that's doing it right. I gave my son his first custom wrap when he was seven and i think i got my first rod at six. I love fishing alone in the morning, when its quiet, nothing but you and the water. Only thing better is that and my son to share it with. He's 23 now and I still take him out every time i can.
