Pro Angler mods for plastic rails
The black plastic rails are pretty flimsy I was wondering if there was a mod or replacement. I hear people replace them with teak wood but cant find any pictures..

Has anybody actually have one break? I never heard of one. They flex a little but that's about it...

If your a diy'er try ridout plastics off Ruffin rd. they have high quality plastics you can make your own custom boards.
I use to pick up plastic from there scrap bin to make gun holsters. |
Saw this on a kayak for sale.

No problems with the plastic ones, just got board one day.

Putting the wood to them…
I’ve made a few dozen for all my PA’s over the years & for a few buddies.
I have played around with a few different designs, had them flush mounted & capped. I personally prefer it capped for several reasons for my layout & dispatching..:viking: Use stainless hardware of course & if you are using Hobies lowrance cable grommets, you can also use those pad eyes ect to hold the ducer' cable in place underneath the boards for a cleaner layout. The only thing I haven’t done yet that I'd like to is maybe an abalone inlay.. This is some top grade selects.. Extra knotty, exotic Douglas Fir that was harvested in a remote region of Home Depot for $2.53.:p http://i57.tinypic.com/2iuyek0.jpg http://i58.tinypic.com/2s67e6d.jpg http://i61.tinypic.com/2pzxmc3.jpg PA 12 http://i59.tinypic.com/105ehxe.jpg PA 14 / Bench http://i58.tinypic.com/301j512.jpg PA 12 / Vantage http://i61.tinypic.com/bh0olc.jpg http://i59.tinypic.com/2h3aa6h.jpg 3-4 finish coats of something like this will do the trick. brush or rattle can application.. Has anyone put wood rails on a revo or outback? I've seen them done on an Ocean Kayak or Tarpon I believe and they looked really good. Also made for a sturdy surface to mount anything.
