6/30 tea time

While helping a friend with a decent yak sized T another came up and started hitting bait. Then it charged and came completely up on plane. 60-80lb shark was scooting across the water like it was flying. One of the coolest things I have ever seen on the water. Gave Adi some baits and we all know what he did with it. Couldn't repeat his success so I fired up the grill. Just as the dogs were almost done, I get hooked up.

Handed off the grill but eventually it was a self release of a 40-60ish T at boatside when the tail cut the spectra above the leader. We saw some spectacular aerial displays and some other funny events. One just hung on to a mac I was reeling in, banged in to the boat and still hung on till I jerked it out of his mouth, and another went 4ft straight up before popping off. Great way to spend a beautiful Saturday.

Tried again today after a late launch but the water was all messed up and the fish were a no show for me.

BTW, the shark in the first pic was released after we got Kurt to tie a line to his yak and tow us so we could get water across the gills.

I fished the 6/30 pm. Water around the kelp was thick with kelp debris and eel grass which made trolling tough. Fished till dark for nothing but a toad calico...

Glad to see the LJ bar and grill opened some summer hours... Way to go on the T's...

Not the sort of fish/yak sleigh ride I really enjoy, but glad to help out.:paddleersmilie:

That was a great day. Thanks for the hot dogs Brad.

When we posed for the pic with my T I thought the bbq by it's head was motivation for it to start swimming, lol but I guess not. That one didn't revive easily. Thanks for the assist Kurt and Brad :notworthy:. A couple more pics I took:

My favorite pic of the the day is still the one I took of Brad turning the dogs on the grill with one hand and fighting his t with the other lol. Too much fun times.

Just when I thought I was getting my yak rigged to a respectable level Brad breaks out the grill on his yak!lol

Un-stinking believable :you_rock:

Most of us are just trying to catch fish and he's catching them and cooking lunch!

I love it and hate it all at the same time :notworthy:

I am assuming that the 4th will be a madhouse even though it falls on a Wednesday. Any thoughts?

dgax65 07-01-2007 07:31 PM

I can't believe that I get crap about the way my kayak is rigged, when Brad has a f****n galley on his. lol

That's awesome.:notworthy:

I need to do that, but I'm goin' stainless with at least 4 burners

I thought this was photo of the year lol. T sharks always lead to exciting photo worthy moments on water.

Either way I am turning pro, as a photo beeyatch lol. I accept beer, burgers, and hotdogs as on the water payment:cheers1:. I tried to get some pics of the airborn T's on saturday and none cooperated. A couple of mine almost jumped in my lap, but I was too slow with the camera this time.

LOL..Gax has a challenge it looks like!

Brad that is awesome. :notworthy: I have seen some riggin out there, but you are a brave man putting a BBQ between your legs on a yak, and fishing at the same time!

The 1st year we got our skiff, we were out fishing on the 4th. It was a mad house. The boat traffic in Mission Bay was ridiculous. I have been staying away from the ocean ever since on the 4th of July.

Everyone with anything that floats hits the water on the 4th. 90% of them go to La Jolla. The beach will be crowded big time, with people piling up LJ parking spots way before the gray light.

I'd highly recommend skipping fishing that day.
