Big California Yellowtail in South Korea!

Got my PB California yellowtail while fishing from Geoje Island, South Korea. Caught on Sunline PE3, 30lb leader, Accurate 400N, and Phenix TJX562L (10-30lb jigging blank) that I custom built, and a Daimiki 200gram slow jig. Fish was right at 30lbs, 120cm long.

Caught several other fish as well. Fish were divided between California and Asian yellowtail. Camped on Geoje island and fished Sunday from the kayak, catching several bar-tailed flathead, red gurnard, and some other species.

Long video but hope you enjoy.... HD so feel free to watch full screen.

Thanks... Fishing around islands 30 min run or so offshore. Very jagged bottom, fished from 50-100 foot or so. Caught my fish deep.

cool vid, interesting that they net your fish instead of gaffing. Nice to not have holes in your fillets. Congrats on your PB.

Absolutely love these videos man. Too cool! Why such light rods for everyone? Cool that you're getting them on the knife jigs too!

It is nice to not have holes in the meat for sure. In Japan the tuna up to 50 or 60 lbs get netted as well.

This boat and Captain specializes in slow jigs, which uses light line to not be affected by the current as much. I just used light jigging stuff, I think some of the technique specific tackle gets a little over rated sometimes.

You may see in the video i did get one fish on the 6x in baby poop. Irons work in Korea too.

Is it still called a "California" Yellowtail if it's caught in Korea? LOL Congrats on the PB
